I am currently running Chemi-pure Elite, Carbon and Algone in my Fluval canister. Would a reactor with media be a good replacement for this canister or will I not see much of a difference? I am battling GHA and am wondering if the reactor will be more effective. Also, I am using RODI water but I started out with tap. Tank is lightly stocked 36G that is about 7 weeks old. Also no sump or skimmer currently but I am considering this as well.

Thanks
Pat

A more common reef tank setup would consist of a carbon reactor, and another for something like GFO, or my favorite...bio-pellets. The carbon helps polish and remote pollutants from the water, whereas the pellets are going to remove NO3 and PO4 from your system. You could technically continue to use the canister filter for carbon and it would work exactly the same as a reactor, but I wouldn't continue to achieve so many goals from it.
