I am moving in 3 months, so instead of setting up my 40g Breeder ( http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1900759 )I am going to progress with the 10g tank that I set up in the transition. This is the thread journaling this tank's troubles, tribulations, successes and failures... feel free to follow along :)
The tank as of now is in my room, next to my bed. But, I plan to move it to the living room for the remainder of my time in this apartment.
In the move, I plan to move all of the inhabitants to a NEW 10g tank with a black background and an overflow (more to come on that) to hide most of the equipment.
Current Tank List:
Equipment
10g - 20x10x12 (clear back)
70 watt Sunpod- 20k bulb w/ 6 leds (3 white, 3 blue)
Aquaclear 70 HOB Filter- Housing some rock rubble, Chaetomorpha, Halmedia, and some random hitchhickers
50 watt Marineland Stealth heater
Koralia 2 Powerhead
Rio 50 Powerhead (behind rocks, strickly for keeping detritus from settling and creating nitrates
Thermometer (very helpful :) )
Fish
Yellow Watchman Goby
Blue Damsel
Clean-Up Crew
Turbo Snail
2x Nassarius Snails
4x Red Legged Hermit Crabs
Breeding population of Stomatella snails
Tons of hitchhiker Brittle Stars
Cheatomorpha
Corals
Hammer Coral (2 Heads)
Green Acan Lord. (11 Heads)
Fiji Yellow Leather
Neon Green Leather
Devil's Hand Leather
Green Fuzzy Mushroom
Open Brain
Green Star Polyps (Branching)
Multiple Zoa frags
Purple Sponge
Neon Green Candy Cane (2 Heads)
The New tank has a black background and an overflow that I made myself (and did a HORRID job on, if I may say so myself).
The overflow is mainly for functionality, providing a level of surface skimming that I hope will benefit the corals, and allow the light to penetrate more efficiently.
The Aquaclear 70 intake will sit inside, hiding it from the view of the display, as will the Stealth heater.
I hope that the Rio 50 will provide the flow around the overflow's rounded corners. If it doesnt do the job well enough, I have a Koralia 1 as a back up plan, however, the ball that connects it to the base is loose, and in order to keep it from pointing downwards, I would have to prop it up somehow. (any ideas?)
PICS!! YAY!! :)
The paint I used, Krylon Fusion was too expensive for me (call me cheap)
