A quality light fixture and bulbs. Try to mimic what nature does best. Not sure if there is any such "anabolic steroid" type product that will hormonally activate a sps coral. Just be careful your search does not lead you towards a bunch of gimmicks. There are far too many products that leave people with empty pockets. You could try Amino acids that should be fine. Also Zeovit and korallen zucht have a lot of products that "they clam" will enhance growth but I don"t have firsthand experience so I can't comment but you can look into them.

fish poop and water changes - working wonderfully for me for over 2 years now.

i agree with flamron. Overfeed, and do big water changes. also, turn your moonlights off at night if you have any. i turned mine off and notcied a large growth increase.

With my Ca Reactor I only dose Tech-M / Magnesion on the regular.

If you did moderate water changes with a good reef grade salt frequently there should be no need for dosing anything.

I agree there is no magic suplement. Those are all a bunch of snake oil. Good light+big skimmer+lots of fish for pooo+ stable alk, ca, mag= happy SPS

For growth, Hormones(GH). But rather a radical suplement and expensive.

You mean to tell me that nice shiny bottle with the fancy label and pretty lady called "Super Ultra Awesome Coral Accel-a-rator Grower" won't work?

That's interesting. Never tried comparing growth of my SPS with moonlights off vs on 24/7. Just curious how you knew it was just the moonlight change?

I run moonlights at night and my growth is very rapid. I haven't noticed a difference in growth with them on or off. How bright were yours? I run 4x1watt over a 50g tank.

Best reef central answer is.. "fish poop" and Rock solid parameters, good lighting, good flow, lots of food in, lots of export out and patience.

i have tried many different things to increase growth in my corals including different supplements, various photo periods, over feeding and large water changes, etc, etc, etc... the one change that hands down brought on THE MOST growth in my sps was switching to a 10k bulb!

Had been sometime using 10K in my fragging tank then changed to 14k and discovered the slow growth.

So how do you explain this observed difference when compared to this study:

Thanks Mike, it is indeed a good article. Am not an expert here, base on my experience in trying few of the Kelvin rating here. As Mike Paletta had in his finding quite contradict though, but in my opinion it base on the true performance of individual bulb lighting after it burned properly as mentioned in his book 100-200hrs burning.

What brand bulb is the 10k? And what was the Kelvin and brand of the one u were using before that? I'm thinking of switching to 10k from 14 k phoenix , but not sure it is worth it.
