I have a 30g set up with a dwarf fuzzy lionfish and need a clean up crew. Any suggestions? I am planning on adding a few easy corals as i can, gsp, blue cloves, and frogspawn are the current plans. Also do I have too much flow? I have a Korilla 750 and a Korilla 1050 in the tank. They are both on the same side of the tank pushing water against the rock on the far side.

Cant seem to find the cord to load pictures but i will get them as soon as possible.

All tips welcome.

For a fuzzy, you can use snails and hermits and you'll be fine. We typically use Astrea, Trochus, Nerites ( 1 per 3 gals), Nassarius (1 per 10 gals), and sometimes scarlet reef hermits (1 per 10 gals) in our lion setups.

You can also use urchins or Holothuria sp. cukes (such as the tigertail) if you like.

You want to avoid ornamental shrimp or non-hermit crabs, as these will likely be eaten.

Please do post pix!

Pics coming soon :) Can you reccomend any good books on Lionfish or saltwater in general? This is my first saltwater tank and i started it mid july of this year. I have ordered Advanced Marine Aquarium Techniques by Jay Hemdal and Lionfishes and Other Scorpionfishes by Frank Marini and already have a copy of The Conscientious Marine Aquarist by Robert Fenner (first edition so its a little dated).

Could you post pics of your lionfish setups? Are the dwrf fuzzies the only inhabitants? Do you find that once they are accustomed to their tank that they use the full water column of do they stay in the lower third?

More questions to come i'm sure :)

Frank Marini's book is amazing!! Tons of great information, he's also a regular on these forums so I'm sure he'll chime in with some advice.
My fuzzy is living in my reef ATM. She usually hides in the rocks most of the day (as far as I know), but as soon as she spots me she comes right out to beg for food. IME this is how most fuzzy's act, they only become active when they associate you with food and start begging like little underwater dogs.

Old vid but you get the idea http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKUxirGL644

Agreed...Frank's book Lionfishes and Other Scorpionfishes is the best resource out there on keeping scorps, so you're right on track in the research department. His article on lionfish care HERE (http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-11/fm/feature/index.php) is also an excellent read.

You may also want to give Tools of the Trade (http://www.lionfishlair.com/feedingtechniques/toolsofthetrade.shtml) a read...it's all about tips and techniques to wean your fish.

There's also a Scorp Care Guide (http://www.lionfishlair.com/careguides/careguidescorpionfish.shtml), much of which applies to lions.

Most of our lions are "out and about", esp. when they think "the food god" might smile on them (which is most of the time).

Here are some pix of some of our lion setups:
