I have an emperor aquatics 40 watt smart UV sterilizer. It suggests a flow rate of 157gph with a max of 262 gph do be efficient at killing protozoa. I'm thinking of using a marineland magnum 350 canister with the micron filter in it. I was just going to lay the UV filter on the floor behind my 30 gallon sump and use the canister to to draw water from the sump and filter out particulates before going through sterilizer and returning to the sump. Any ideas as to whether I would be in the ball-park on flow rate?

You numbers look like they are right out of the Emperor website, so I would say it's correct. Seems low to me based on my AquaUV at 25w which runs at about 400 gph.

I don't believe in using sterilizers in a reef tank because it kills many bacterias corals utilize.
