First of let me reintroduce myself! I'm Chris from Oakland, Ca!! I know their are a lot of nor cal folk on here!

Hehe anyways, I've been out of the scene for about 5 years, I had a 29H back when I was about 17, and I had it running pretty well for about 2 years till I was forced to sell it. I had sparks under my bum for a few years now and a trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium with my soon to be expecting fiance! the sparks lit the tinder and created a fire, so with permission, I went on the search.

I found an eclipse 12g for $50 new on Craigslist,

I bought a sheet of acrylic, a sheet of egg crate and a sheet of lexan.

I know i defiantly want to have a foam aquascape. and I want a refugium and I do not have space for a sump. So i was thinking i could cut about a half inch of acrylic of the back of the fish tank, leaving maybe an inch or 2 normal height on each side. and build refugium right of the back of the tank and use bulk heads to feed it? is it possible?

Should I build an internal overflow like this one

use a bulk head to fill the refugium and a small return pump to pump back into the tank?

The bulk head is inside the overflow comparment :) i just put it there in the drawing.

now if I have a good return pump shouldnt it create enough water movement to pass throught the fugi? or am I going to need a pump pumping into the fugi and a return pump from the fugi to the tank?

Or do i need to redesign my entire idea? I would like to keep the stock filter just to run some bag filters and no bio wheel.

I'm also going to do a 96watt coralife retrofit under the stock hood.

any advice thanks!

Any ideas? on what I should do?

if my fugi does good and what it's supposed to and regular water changes, will i need to run a skimmer?

is there anyone out there, that can maybe help me design a simple fugi that can be built onto the back of my tank?

I have been trying to find a design that would work for my application, but having trouble on figuring out each baffle height and where my bulk heads need to be.

Thanks!

ideas and comments welcome!

bump! the chamber after the inlet i was thinking of housing bioballs, and run my heater in the inlet chamber.

Will this setup work?
