I think that starting a database of all of our clams growth under the specific conditions in our tanks would be beneficial for the successful keeping of these wonderful animals. I will start the database in the next post with the information on my Gigas clam. If you want to contribute please post the information on your clams in the manner as follows:

1. Type of clam.
2. Lighting setup, including PAR measurements if possible.
3. Water parameters.
4. Length of time you have had the clam.
5. Observed growth in the time you have had the clam.
6. Where you acquired the clam.
7. Feeding, if any.
8. Dosing, if any.
9. Quote your last post so we can see the history of your clam.

Thanks, and hope you all can contribute, I think this will help all of us!

Dan

Nobody is interested in this? Having a compilation of clam growth under different conditions would clarify a lot of arguments around here.

dan, it might be that this database would only be a representation of those X number of individuals who replied. too small a statistical sampling.

Well if it is just me and my gigas that will most certainly be the case :)!

We wouldn't need that many people, especially since most seem to have multiple clams ( I think your 14 would almost do the trick ;)). Even a sample of say 20 people with 50 clams would be helpful. I am not trying to make any statistically significant arguments based on this at this point, it would just be nice to see how different clams grow under different conditions for different people.
