Hey all,

Just wanted to share my build with you all. I amm currently ~3 weeks into my 100 gallon build. I build my own aquarium using 1/2" acrylic. The tank setup is as follows:

100 gallon DT (24 tall, 20 wide, and 48 long)
bean animal coast-to-coast overflow
2 sunsun ~800gpm powerheads
100 lbs of bulkreefsupply reef saver rock
custom stand
40 gallon sump
x-2000 reef octopus skimmer
mag 24 return pump
bulkreefsupply 5 stage RO/DI setup
DIY LED lighting & fixture (soon to be redone)
dosing pump for alk and cal

Livestock:
1 firefish (jewels)
1 percula (VonThriller)
2 cleaner shrimp (umpa & lumpa)
1 coral banded shrimp (sasquatch)
~35 red and blue legged hermits
10 turbo snails of various sizes
~5 nassarius snails
***. zoos
mushroom
ricordea mushroom

Tank is cycled to my knowledge. I have kept a excel spreadsheet with my perimeters and I am now getting 0ppm for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates (10% water change ~1-2 weeks). I am still getting .25 ppm phos which I have in turn bought a GFO reactor and will be installing soon. I also made room in my sump for a refugium and will be placing chaeto in. I have videos posted on youtube of the tank progress and I am compiling the tank build videos.

[welcome]
phosphates are one of those things we all have problems with, good idea to get a GFO reactor, it will help.

watched the video, good thing you didn't have any stony corals in the tank, the would've burned.

from the video it looks like you just have diatom bloom (not cyano), which is part of your tanks maturity process.

Is that you in your avatar with the big beard? your voice doesn't match.... ;)

Welcome to RC. Great job on the tank build. I had a mistake much like you did where I left my LiterMeterIII 'ON' instead of 'RUN' on my top off. Instead of me adding my ~3 gallons of lime water for the day it unloaded about ~30 gallons into the tank. I lost a lot of livestock but luckily had a 44 gallon Brute on standby with water and did an immediate water change.

Anyways, you are lucky you did this early so you did not lose a lot.

Welcome to RC and great looking tank build. did you make the coast to coast yourself? Any video of it as I am planning to do the same for my tank.

Awesome tank build. Thanks for posting the video. You make it look too easy to build a 100G tank. Do you have a video of your DIY light build? Post a video on that if you can.

Sister ~ Yeah that is me in the avatar pic, lol. I really hate that I had to cycle the 4 corals that I previously had with the tank, but just done know anyone down here in reefing.

Tanknewbie ~ yeah I did do the coast-to-coast overflow myself. Was not hard, but Ill see if I can post the video on youtube, I know for sure I have progression pics.

isildursbane ~ I dont have a video of the DIY lighting, but im going to be upgrading it, so i will add a video on the new fixture and increased leds.

Thanks all for the welcome!

Chaka,

Reef Central has a section for local clubs and there is 1 for New Mexico. Check out this forum (http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=537)and see if there's anyone in your local area.

Thought I would post some pics of my new corals. I bought a candy cane, frogspawn, torch, and leather. All are doing good except the frogspawn. I don't think he took the shipping very well. Here they are:

They all look good but the frogspawn does not look very promising. Hopefully it recovers but is not looking good:( If you end up losing it you can let the torch grow out and trade a head or two for a head of frogspawn! These are a great coral I keep hold of as I like to be able to trade in heads to the LFS for credit.
