The wife found this little hitchhiker fish in the rockwork today. Its only about 2cm long. Very small. Mostly white (small amount of greenish color on face) with orange eyes. Hard to tell what the rest of his body looks like because when he darts out its really quick and looks like a blur. There may be a few dark stripes on the body. Also appears to have eyelashes or little antennaes. These are the best photos I could get. Looks like a blenny of some sort?? I'd really like to try to narrow down what kind.

For scale, there is a colony of green zoos to the left of him, he's really small.

It is one of the blennies, probably a combtooth, the steep forehead makes me think that maybe its a juvenile molly miller. Could also be a Starksia ...

Fish are unusual hitchikers on live rock, (they usually don't survive the handling process) but then I noticed you are in the keys - hopefully this was from cultured rock and not something you picked.

I wish I could help you, but instead I have my own question: What is the fish in your avatar?

Thank you for the information, rest assured I don't take things from the ocean. Friday I purchased a new bubble tip which was attached to a large rock. I agreed to take the rock back to the LFS when the anemone moved. I also purchased two large candycanes, a large rock with GSP, 4 different types of zoos, and yellow polyps.

I only buy things locally. The longest anything ever travels is an hour since thats how far away Miami is. All of the rock in my tank was nuked myself due to a recent cirolanid isopod outbreak. Theres no way this little fish could have survived that so the only thing I can assume is that he was in one of the rocks I picked up from the fish store the other day.

The only thing that really stands out about this little guy is his bright orange eyes-- I couldnt find any blenny like it. I guess they might change as he matures though.

Its a flashing tile goby. They change colors :)

IMO the coolest fish on the planet.

I don't think it is but it resembles my Starry blenny (Salarias ramosus) and a couple i have seen as juvis. They have the prominent orange eye and a similar colouration but they also change throughtout the day so don't always look the same, for instance most on google will not look anything like what i mean but when they lighten up they do look similar to yours.
I'd be very happy to find it.

If I remember Correctly they are a Mexican Barnacle Blenny. Cute little guys! One of the larger wholesalers in Miami used to get them in pretty regularly.

The fish in your avatar is H. purpureus, not H. chlupatyi, based on the red tail.

Definitely looks like a Barnacle Blenny. There are several different species that are under that general name. :) Awesome little guys!

To me it looks like a Spinyhead Blenny (Acanthemblemaria spinosa), but I am not totally sure. Do you have more photos?

It's a blenny, easy to feed. Even eating in your hand's food. It will hit fish when other fish come across his hole.

I can't tell for sure from the pictures, but I was leaning towards a Barnacle Blenny too. Possibly Acanthemblemaria hancocki.
Does it move it's eyes independently? What are you feeding it?

Fishbase is not working for me currently. Here are some linked images that could be helpful. http://www.discoverlife.org/20/q?search=Acanthemblemaria+hancocki&b=FB46714
