Anyone know how deep in the sump this skimmer should sit? So far every time I fire it up it fills the cup up. I've had it at 10" and 6" sofar. Tank is new with fresh saltwater and only 4# of live rock, baserock and 90gal water.

You want the output pipe from the skimmer right above or slightly below the static water level in the sump. Should be about 6-7". If the output is submerged, it creates back pressure while cause the overflow.

I have mine set at 6.5" and it is skimming like a beast.

Sofar any more back pressure than just no riser and it overflows. I have it in 5" of water now, going try 4 1/2" today.
