if he hasn't moved in 2 days, I'd pick him up and see if he's okay. Those guys are usually pretty active.

I'm no expert, but I know the first thing the experts will ask:

Tank size? Lighting? YOUR tank parameters? Salinity of water from where you got the conch? Acclimation time/type (did you drip your water in its bag or dump the little guy into the tank all at once? Other tanks inhabitants? Corals? Hermits? Snails?

It really helps the experts analyze if you put all of that info into a signature and update every so often.

Just my two cents worth.

Two days is a long time. Mine moved after an hour at the most. I soaked in tank for about 10 minutes in bag. Then I dropped them in

These guys can lay seemingly dormant for weeks at a time. Give it a chance to get acclimated.

I moved him and checked him, he seems fine, he moved back to the spot

I have had 2 of these. The first would bury himself in the sand and stay there for a week or more. Then he would come out for a few days but eventually he would bury and seem to be dormant.

The 2nd is almost constantly on the go. He is climbing all over the rocks.

So I wouldn't worry about it.

How deep is your sand?

I've read that sometimes they find a "good" spot and stay there while they eat... then move on.

I know what everyone is saying and to a degree I agree, however, I have had conchs for a good long time and the last couple I introduced to my tank acted just like that. One kind of buried himself and didn't move for almost 3 days. I was going to move him the next day but when I looked in the morning he was up and about. Give it another day or so.

I agree. They find a pocket of delicious nastiness and work it over before moving on. Sometimes I suspect they take naps. But they're pretty tough.

Well I got a 75g with 6x54w ATI Sunpower salinity is at 1.025 and my fighting conch been in the same spot since I got him over 2 weeks ago. I thought he was dead until I picked him up about a hour ago and he's alive and he's moving back to the area where he was buried at first, I wish he was more active though. Sorry for jacking your post but I was about to make a thread with the same question until I saw yours

As you've discovered, when they find a spot they like, they can stay there for days. At other times you'll see them active and all over the place. I actually worry more when mine are too active. makes me worry that they are not finding enough food to eat.

I've noticed mine do the majority of foraging at night. They stay buried during the day.
