Found par 38 bulb at lowes will it work

I am sure they would work. What is the kelvin temperature?

Those probably won't have the par output that your reef would require. Also they are probably fairly yellow.

They do have the PAR, but they are very very yellow at 3000k. They won't grow coral very well with that spectrum. I tried one over my tank, not worth the money.

I just looked at the manufacture's specs and the light color is 3000ºK which isn't anywhere near the ones that are made for aquariums

I have these over my refuguim. they work great
I have zeinia, mushrooms, and a couple sps frags that were taking up room in my display. they are still alive but the sps are brown.
everything else doesn't seem to mind
the mushrooms do not get very big but they have been in there for over 6 months now. they do not grow or seem to split either though.
