FIY, Meus is Latin for my or mine, 2nd declension singular, and in the Nominative case... Just a little fact:spin1:.

So, I just got about three inches of water into my new 2.5. I took about three to four cups of black sand from my 29 gallon, and added a few flakes to start the nitrogen cycle. I will get more saltwater into it as soon as I can get some RO/DI water and salt. Along with the water I will also get a few rocks. I plan on keeping one or two of these rocks in my 29 to jump start its maturity. I also plan on keeping anemone shrimp or dancing shrimp (not sure if they are the same or not, so feel free to let me know), boxing crabs, three or so Florida ricordea and if I can find them... Tiny dartfish. I am going away for the weekend and will try to get up a few pics before I leave.

Happy Reefing,
Meus.

Quick update(and bump). Methinks I can make it to my lfs tomorrow where I can pick up some water and rocks for my tank. I just want to add, this is one of my slower going projects, so you may not see it take off until later (unless you are reading from the future and all this has come to past :strooper:). Besides that, not much has happened other than the settling of my sand and the clearing of the little water I have in there.

Again, happy reefing, Meus.

Sexy shrimp!! Also called anemone shrimp. I kept a trio of them in my 2.5g pico. They are fun to watch.

Yeah, I found a few in my lfs's frag tank. They look like the perfect inhabitants for a small tank. I was unable to get water, because their RO/DI filter was broken, but they said they will call me when it is back up and running. I do have a question, What sort of lighting should I use? I don't have enough money for leds(using it all on new lighting for my 29g), I would prefer fluorescents, but I have yet to find any small enough to fit. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know please.

Happy Reefing, Meus.

Lighting for small tanks is sometimes hard to find - what are your tank dimensions?

Looks like I won't be getting water for a while. I have enough for a 50% water change on my 29, and I would prefer to keep this as a back-up. Hopefully this "shortage" will not last long...

I've got a 3.5G ADA tank running an Ecoxotic Par38... they are nice for nanos but finding a decent fixture is a pain.

Well... I filled the tank this mourning and I found an old desk lamp. It looks nice, but I need to steal a fan from one of my old computers. I am letting it cycle a bit because the next thing I want to do is upgrade my lighting on my 29g.

You can get a 20watt screw in coralife bulb. Or 2 12in vho t5s from uvl. You could make your own canopy and customize your lighting with t5s and cfl bulbs.

Well, just a quick update, my tank has gone through the ammonium and I have my nitrites going down. I have a asterina starfish that I stole from my 29g in it currently. I still need to get some live rock, I have yet to make a lengthy visit to my lfs. Anyways for those who care the tank is doing great.
