Well it is a product that you pour into about a gallon of water, and then you dip your corals into it. It supposedly kills off all the pests and stuff. I was wondering does this really work? But most importantly I was wondering if you could use this for live rock, to kill off all the pests and such.

It's a great dip for corals to remove unwanted pests, but I wouild not use it on LR.

Cure the LR outside of the tank and check for any undesirable pests.

Don't use it on liverock it will kill all the pods and bristleworms and such.

I agree that it's likely fine for coral. I wouldn't treat live rock with it.

Dip your LR to kill off most stuff, it won't kill all because of its porous nature. If you dip the LR, be sure to cycle separably for a few weeks. You'll get more pods with cheato/corals you buy as most will have hitch hikers.

CoralRx is a good product, a little expensive. Try Revive for the same thing only a little cheaper

I don't know if I would dip live rock in it either. A lot of these products contain iodine which can fuel algae growth, or so I've heard.

I spoke to Dr foster and smith about a similar issue. they said the safest way to dip live rock is in hyposalinity. they said to make the water at SG 1.040 and dip the rock. the unwanted pests will jump out. I hear that revive is the same as coral RX.

That's hypersalinity, technically. I wouldn't do that to my expensive live rock. The treatment is will affect all the organisms in the rock, not just the pests. It might be worthwhile, though, if all you want is live coralline.
