Fungi - sweeper at night??

I have a green fungi and every night it gets a brown spot with a 4 - 5 inch long brown string coming out. I assumed that this was some type of sweeper tenticle. Does anyone know what's going on?

Fungia? Plate coral? It sounds more like excretion. they have a few odd habits, like 'walking' on sand. But their tentacles are their feeding apparatus.
