Looking at all options, from mh/T5, just mh, all t5, and LEDs now. I was thinking of just doing the maxspect 60w fixture. Stocking lps and maybe a few low light sps. Nothing crazy.

How many spotlights do you think would work? At least 2?

Thanks!

Brad

i would go with at least 3. even with 60 degree optics, spotlighting is still a pretty big issue

That's what I was afraid of, thanks

I have two 20k, 60degree nanotuners PAR38's hanging over my 24 gallon aquapod. It is more than enough. I am thinking it will probably be enough at the 29 gallon level as well. Perhaps they'd be enough for a solana - I am also looking into that.

FWIW, I have no spotlighting issues at all.

Which optics do you run?

Was this to me? If so, I am not sure what you mean.

He is running 60 degree optics.

I have just read a comment by evil who created the par38 bulbs I have, where he said the circle of light for them is approximately 14''. So make of that what you will. I am really umming and ahhhing about adding a third bulb. The two seem enough, but I am wondering if I'd get more growth with a third bulb.

i honestly for a solana would get 4. 2 par 38s on my nc 12 just gets me the even light coverage i want. so 2 would give decent light, 3 better, and 4 would be ideal for light coverage and evenness in lighting

Nereaga, did you end up getting the PAR38s?

I use a maxspect G2-110 on my solana.

How high is your bulb from the water?

I have a 24 gal, 24"-16"-18" tall tank. I'm only using 1 par38 20k 80 optics bulb and coverage is perfect. Bulb is 6" away from the water
Distance between the bottom of the bulb and sandbed is 23". My only concern is will the low light LPS on the sandbed directly under the light get too much light?

Thanks.
