interesting....yet very ..disturbing

i was looking at my tank with a flashlight lastnight to see all the pods,shrimp worms etc that come out at night. i saw so many things then i saw it. i noticed a hermit was "shaking"i looked closer and it was being jerked in and out of its shell.....FROM THE INSIDE. i looked closer and everytime it would get jerked...a scary worm head popped out for a breif second then went back in and the hermit would continue walking around..then it happend again.. its looks so disturbing to the crab yet it walks around like nothing happends. W....T....H.

Well, that's certainly weird. I've seen hermits shake while dispersing eggs. Possibly this one moved into a shell a worm had declared to be its home and it's an ongoing real estate dispute.
As long as the worm head doesn't have several very distinct tentacles (google: eunicid worm) it's a good guy.

Likely that the worm will not hurt the little guy. Comical though;)
