I have a 50 gal tank just finished the set up and I'm not sure how long do I run the pump for??? I've heard 24/7 but not sure.

What pump are you talking about? Are you talking about powerheads, return pump, skimmer pump, etc???

I see no reason to turn any of these off as they should be running non-stop.

[welcome]

Pretty much every pump should be running 24x7. I can't think of any exceptions except an ATO system. :)

If your talking about a return pump or a canister filter pump they need to run 24/7 to keep the water oxygenated and the bacteria alive. Simple explanation i suggest you read some good books on the subject of Saltwater aquariums. Hope this helps

Welcome! I think u know 24/7 by now, right? HAHAHA. Return and skimmer r 24/7. Some people might turn a powerhead off at night for a calmer time period. Other than that most are 24-7

And when Tozzi mentions this....Not all powerheads would be turned off. Some of the powerheads might be shut down or dialed back during night.

all of my pumps (2) run 24-7. Never turn them off except for Maintenance.
