View Full Version : When is it time to replace the filters

I purchased an OCEAN REEF + 1 FIVE STAGE 75 GPD RO/DI. It is setup to auto-topoff using a lower and upper switch directly into my sump. How can I tell when the filters need to be changed?

My TDS in reads 1, my TDS out reads Err.

Because of the setup how can I measure the volume sent through the filters? Should I measure input or output?

Sorry for the multiple questions.

First of all you should check the plug on your tds meter wiring and see if it corrects the error message.

How much is it topping off each time the switch comes on. You want it to make a gallon or two of water each time?

I will try that.

Thanks for the reminder I set the floats so I create at least two gallons.

Any advice on how often or how to tell when it is time to replace the filters?

You want to change sediment and carbon filters once every 6-9 months depending on how much water your making. DI resin should always produce zero tds and changed at a reading of no higher then 2-3.
