Well its time to build another system . Got a good deal on the set up it just needed some redoing. So let the build begin.
Here is the stand when I got it home

Check out the silicon job on this . I will be removing it and getting rid of the center brace and euro bracing it

Here is the stand after repainting and sealing the bootom so no water leak. I also added plywood to the top and bottom

Well I put some foam down and got the tank on the stand

While I was waiting for the skin for the stand to dry I was reading some other builds here on RC and saw SERPENTMANS 300 build and realty liked his shadow box back drop. So i went to home depote and did my own style of it.

I like the way the background looks. I suppose you will have to keep the coralline off the back glass now.

Its going to be fun Keeping the glass clean but I like it so much better then just a plain painted back drop ya know

I don't think you want to use foam underneath the aquarium if it has a bottom rim. Usually you only use foam on tanks where the bottom glass sits directly on the surface under it, opposed to sitting on a rim which sits on the surface.

I am putting 1/2 thick 2" strips all around the edges. I am waiting on the glass to come in any day now

You want all 4 corners of the bottom trim to sit snug on the stand. The bottom trim is designed to support the tank. With the foam under there you risk a crack. Of course those old Oceanic tanks are built with thick glass and heavy as heck but they're solid!
