A Ghost or Snowflake Eel can be kept in a 50 gallon tank, but nearly every other commonly-available eel requires a tank of 125 to 200 gallons. Eels are also accomplished escape artists and can slither out of a tank through the smallest opening imaginable.

Try doing a search on here on dwarf eels :). I've never kept an aggressive tank and never an eel so I won't claim to know anything about them but I've seen a few different folks on here with golden dwarf moray eels in nano sized tanks.

Here is one thread on just such type of eels :)

If you get a small snowflake, it will be fine in a 29 Gal for a while, but it will outgrow it within a year or two. Water quality will be a little rough to maintain though, as eel's like to eat, so a well performing skimmer and a good water change schedule are in order.

Eels are very messy eaters and contribute greatly to the bioload. It is also worth pointing out that eels in general will eat anything and everyone that will fit in their mouth.
