I have one of these on the way from Custom Aquatic. They're also known as penductors made by Pacific Coast Imports. I've got a submersible Mag-Drive pump I'm going to try it out on and if it looks promising I'll put in on a CL on my 33 gallon nano (48"L).

It looks like the info out there on these penductors is misleading. A lot of it says the flow is increased which is impossible. They can't increase the output of the pump, they just broaden the flow by putting the pumps outflow through a small orifice. This will decrease the pump's flow because it will take more pressure to push it through the little hole. The broad flow is what I'm looking for.

And this is my thread on flow accelerators for nanos.

the penductor works like a venturi the water flows through the smaller opening and pulls tank water in increasing the flow output the problem is it takes alot of pump pressure to work correctly

Tagging along.

Will be interesting to see how things work out in your 33L (I have one as well!)

What is your CL pump rated at?

I don't have a pump for my closed loop yet but I'm planning on using one with an output of 550 gph or more.

I'm thinking Iwaki 30RLT or Iwaki 40RLT.

I've never used one on a tank under 75g, but I think an Iwaki will be able to handle the extra pressure just fine.

Got my penductor today, I will test it soon.

Any update?

I tested the penductor on this Mag-drive 2 (250 gph) and didn't notice any difference then when the penductor was off. It looks like it does take a lot more pressure than this pump. I don't have a bigger submersible pump to test it on so I won't be installing a CL until then.
