Im in starting my new tank with hopes of doing a sps dominate setup.

I have only been in this hobby for about a yr using nothing more then a 55gal sumpless setup and lps coral.

iam going to a 90gal tank with a 20 long for my sump/fuge.

planning on using a mp40 for flow but still on the fence about my lighting be it a 6 or 8 bulb t5 tek light or try using my current 2 150watt fixture and add 4 bulbs of t5. my question is, what else are going to be must haves for this project? I have not forgot about my skimmer, and have reef octo picked out

I would go for the 8 bulb tek if it was me. MP40 is a good choice as well. Additional items I would recommend is

1. ATO
2. Controller
3. GFO/Carbon Reactor

Just a thought:

I have 2 150w halides on a 120g, I get good sps color and growth in the top 2/3 of my tank and I keep lps on the sand/bottom rock work. I have also kept less light demanding sps (montipora), just fine one the bottom.

So don't get too carried away with upgrading your lighting.

Stability is far more important rights now. So, get an auto top off!

great advice, I do think i will hang onto my lights for now and focus more on stability.

an ATO is top on my list along with a duel reactor for gfo and carbon.
