Heater Question

I have an AC3 with 2 DC8 controllers and I was wandering if there where any problems using the AC3 as the heater controller. I was thinking about just getting heaters without controllers. Like the Finnex TH-500. One of my heaters went out and I need to replace it. I thought about going this route but just wanted to see if there was some reason that it might be a bad idea.

I like to use heaters with built in thermostats as a backup failsafe. Just in case the controller leaves the heater outlet on for some reason, the heater can never heat your tank hotter than the setting on the heater.
