New to SW, so I don't want to mess this up. I'm in the process of setting up a 120. I have about 100 pounds LR curing for the last few months and will be adding most everything from my 40B. The 120 has been up and running for a week and a half w/LR. All new sand besides what's in the sump. A little of a Nitrate spike (10) w/no water changes yet. Is it safe to go ahead and put all my rock and coral from the 40B in or should I wait? I only have a Mandrin for fish (and a Clam?). I would also be preforming a 20% WC at this time. Here are a few pictures of how the 120 looks right now and the 40B that will be taken down (for reference). Do I wait? Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance

Moving all of that rock and coral will stir up a ton of detritus which will wind up in the new tank, even after a rinse. You might want to make the move in stages, perhaps 15-20% of the LR/coral at a time every few days, watching the parameters carefully.

I like to have a pail of saltwater for the move to rinse things in,
Just grab a rock corals and all and swish it around in there for a bit to get all the build up off and then add it to the new tank.
Witht eh sand I so the same thing, I add the sand to the rinse bucket and then pull it out with a ladel or by hand and leave all the water in the bucket, let the sand drain into the bucket as well, the throw that water out when you're done.
Ive not had a spike doing it this way.
I did ahve a spike the first time when I just tooke erything and added it to the new tank.

The problem is I need the rock from the 40B on the bottom as a base. The large rock that is already in the 120 is much nicer. I am leaving up the 40B as a frag tank so I'll just leave my Mandrin and Clam in their for a while.

+1 on watching the levels for a bit yet. I'd do what joey said and do it in stages. The Mandrin also might need a more established tank as well. I would just make sure the fuge is stocked with a lot of pods and keep an eye on it.
