Octopus BH-2000 or BH-300f HOB which would you pick??

I have a choice between receiving ONE of two octo HOB skimmers for my 75g mixed reef. I can receive one of these free due to a past warranty issue from coralvue. I have had the BF-300F in the past, but one of the resun pumps burned out and i'm not sure i want to go that route again. (I don't have a sump, so that option is out of the question) My choices are either receive a new octo BH-300F (with the two resun 225 internal pumps) or the BH-2000 (with the external pump).

Which is best overall, of the two skimmers as far as proformance goes? Is the external pump on the BH-2000 more reliable than the resun??

I've not heard a lot of good about the resun pumps, I'd probably go with the 2000.

I'm considering the same 2 skimmers myself. Any further comments would be very much appreciated.

I'm switching to the BH-2000 myself from the 1400 Remora w/ large in tank surface skimmer -the s.skimmer is just to cumbersome to deal w/ moving up and down w/ water level. A friend of mine has this BH-2000 and it gets some gunk outta his tank. I just haven't had any luck w/ this remora.

I have the reef octopus skimmer its the bh 1000 hob it has external pump. So far it does a good job, and is nice having external pump.

I have had the BH 300 in the past worked great but a real pain to clean
I would go with the external pump model if I needed a hob skimmer again

I just got the BH2000 las thursday. I have to say it drove me nuts for the first 2-3 days but now I love it. I am getting good skim out of it and I am so happy I have it.

Chas19, What was driving you nuts? My Bh2000, which I think skims better than a remora and tunze 9002, makes lots of noise from the airline. I have it running a couple of weeks now, pump is very silent, just the noise from the airline.

The bubbles were. I know it had to break in but it was crazy the amount it was pushing out but after 3 days it was skimming great. Now I have to clean the cup every few days it works great.
