sure its brownish and not gold? mine is gold with stripes kinda and blue/green/purple rim.

IF IT IS INDEED brown then maybe its not enough light..can you notice growth rings?

What lighting are you using? I am setting up a 55g (standard size) and want to do mainly softies, zoas, maybe a few lps. I am having trouble deciding on lighting. I want to stay with T5, but not sure how may bulbs to use. I will be using ATI bulbs.:strooper:

11/27/2010, 11:46 PM
Im using a pc aqua lux fixter with 2 125w 50/50 bulbs and there very expensive to replace. just go with the t5s and do 4w per gallon and you will be fine.

filling in nice. i had a lot more rock in my 60 then went to a 125gal it has a large rock reef. I( guess more open bottom would be nice but i'll wait till i get what i call my end game tank. 6 foot by 30 inches front to back, 24 tall at the most, don't like 30 " tall

Doing anything for phosphate and nitrate prevention or removal?

60G
10/26/2011, 11:19 PM
no not really i have some phosguard or what ever and it sucks and i have 0 phosphates and nitrites

Gonzalex
10/27/2011, 07:08 PM
Well your probably reading 0 phosphates because the cyano is consuming it all. Do you use only RO/DI water for water changes and topoff?

60G
10/29/2011, 11:51 AM
yes but i still put AmQuel in just to be sure the bad stuff is out of the RoDI water

The Punisher
11/26/2011, 01:03 PM
Cyano can live in low nutrient environments so it's not always a high phosphate issue. I'm currently trying to get rid of a little bit of cyano myself and am currently trying the lights out for 3 days method. It seems to work for most people.
