Hi everyone, have been looking through alot of old post.....and i dont really have the answers so... I have a 36 gal corner and my light is currently hanging about 6 in. off the surface. Tank depth is 21 in. Im wondering if i should be closer to 8 or 10. Is there a formula for figuring this? depth of water or something? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

Im not sure. I bought the light used. new D.E. 15K bulb. Its a sundpod. Think is an HQI 250. Guessing its pretty standard

Most will shoot for about 8-9 inches from bulb to water surface. You should be ok. Keep an eye on the temp. If it starts to climb, you can raise it an inch or so.

Thank you. Water temp been steady on and off so i think im good.. The bulb itself is prob about 8" from the water so i guess all is well.. Thanks again
