So I thought of something to try today... I have an 8 bulb Tek fixture with 2 cords. My daylights are on one cord, and my aquablue's are on another.
I have two timers. One for the daylights, and one for the aqualights. One timer, the one for the daylights, is on a digital timer that allows for 6 programs. It can also vary the program run each day. Here's the plan:
1) Run the aquablues (4 bulbs) 10 hours every day.
2) Randomnly choose a program to run. Programs vary from 1 hour long to 5 hours long.
My thinking is this would mimic the ocean's cloudy days, plus save on electricity.
What are some downfalls to this? Currently, I turn off the daylights about one day a week. Let me know!
