Ok so I have my sump set up with a fuge in the center, and the fuge seems to be a spot for any and all detritus to just settle into the bottom, is this normal? its a 20t sump, center fuge, skimmer on right, overflow to fuge, overflow to return section...

It seems to just settle in lol.

You can probably setup a powerhead in the fuge to keep detritus from settling.

This is normal wherever you have low flow.

Also, if you use a filter sock on your drain, it might help out as well.

Normal and makes for a good place to get rid or it during water changes.

My answer is live rock and sand, true nassasrius snails, crabs and a fighting conch in the fuge. Better there than your DT. As long as it doesn't migrate back up, and it's getting taken care of, it's good.

Sk8r wouldn't a conch eat pods?

This is the reason I set my fuge up like this skimmer section>return>fuge. This way the fuge gets 'clean' detritus free water, but still has all the benefit of helping to reduce excess nutrients like nitrates and phosphates. The only real answer is more flow, but IMO and other's a sump should not have high flow period.

Sk8tr, how do you keep snails from getting sucked into your return pump?
