I was wondering how to determine what bulbs simulate what depts? Like is 20,000k deeper in the ocean then say 10,000k? Or is that backwards?I am refering to mh bulbs

The higher K rating the light will appear more blue,it does not matter if its MH or T5 or any other type of light.

right I got that much, does the light change as if it was at a deeper depth?

The deeper you go, the harder it is for light to penetrate. Blue's and violet wave lenghts are shorter and therefor penetrate further down.

Light doesn't change on bulbs, but you are simulating a depth when going to higher kelvin bulbs. Not sure I completely understand your question though, can you elaborate? Perhaps I can be of more help.

The lower kelvin bulbs seem more white obviously,so it almost seems they would emulate shallow water where the light wouldn't have to go very deep.?so that's my question does a higher kelvin simulate a deeper depth? Example,I have 2- 14k and had 1 10k plus the vhos and tank was pretty bright as if the it was shallow water, so I put a 20k to replace the 10k now its a bit more blue as if the water is now a little deeper?so that's my question?hope that helps
