Does anyone now of a affordable container with a seal top that I could purchase to store my unsalted water.

I was thinking of buying a 25gal. plastic trash can. Clean it with white vinegar and using it to store the water for a months supply. Does anyone now if the trash can lid is good enough for a seal? Any suggestions.

38 gallon "brute" garbage can from home depot or lowes you can get a lid to seal it and wheels to make em mobile :D I personally use a 20 gallon bucket from tractor supply. I think it's to hold water for horses, no lid but I only pull it out once a week for a water swap.

be careful with the trash cans, they can bow if they are filled to the brim. i use a 55 gal blue barrel. if you find a new one, cut off the top and use the top as a lid..

I use wrapping paper vertical containers from Walmart. They hold 10 gallons each which pre-filled with water one gallon at a time and made marks on the outside with sharpie pen. One container is for salt water and the other is waste water. This way I know how much water I have removed and need to replace. You can get a third for ro/di storage.

Hi, Dave- Sorry that it took a long time to get back to you. Can you explain the containers the you bought at Walmart.

Thanks, Tony

Sure, they are verticle wrapping container boxes. Kind of like the rubbermaid storage tubs. They have a lid too so it makes it ideal. This is the best time of year to find them too because we are so close to Christmas. Get 2. One for your waste water and one for your salt water mix. You can add a third if you like to store fresh ro/di but I keep my ro/di in gallon containers so that they are ready to pour for Kalk top-off. When you get your containers, take an empty milk gallon and pour regular tap water one gallon at a time into each container. Mark the outside of the container as you go gallon by gallon. This way you know how much water you drain and need to replace. I am home if you would like to call with more questions. I sent my home number to you in your inbox

The rubbermaid "brute" professional cans (grey food grade) are thicker than a standard garbage can. I don't notice them flexing much at all and Icompromised the integrity by putting bulk heads through the walls. The lids fit on top with no issues.
