is this normal for break in?

just got an octo 250 extreme skimmer, i read a bit of the thread on these, but im still alittle confused:/ skimmer is in 7" of water atm, and is set wide open, and is skimming very wet. so i have the cup plug unplugged, cause it would over flow waster cup... is this normal.skimmer has only been running for about 48hrs now. any comments are appreciated thankyou.

I would let it run for about a week or so before making any adjustments. How established is your tank? If you don't have much of a bio load there might not be much to skim out. I would give it a little time.
