sucking up algae w/ a canister filter

I was wondering if the micron filter on a magnum 350 would be able to capture any cryno or bubble algae i would suck up and not release it back into the water column.

Might work ok. I just get a 5gal bucket and a a siphon hose with a mesh bag tied to the end. Siphon till the bag or bucket's full, clean bag, dump water back in tank, repeat.
