I just purchased a 220g setup something ive always wanted to get is a larger reef. Going from a 65g to a 220g should be fun times. I purchased the setup from someone and am looking to do so modification to the stand to make it look nice and also would love to get a larger sump in the stand.
First off ill post the current sump that was used which I feel is too small. Im guessing it was 40g. I have a 75g tank that I could use (sitting empty atm) and make my own baffles.
I have some pictures to show you guys what ill be using. My main problem is the stand only have about 16" of room between the studs the way he made the stand. I would have to remove these without damaging the current stand so may take some work not sure yet. My idea was to remove the center 2x4s that are running width wise and change them to run length wise. Let me know what your guys ideas are. Also im not sure if I can even get the 75g in the stand without removing the top brances and reinstalling them and not sure if I want to try and demo everything to make it work. If you guys need dimensions let me know.
I also wanted to get your guys thoughts on the pump. Do you think its enough to run 2 returns either 3/4" or 1" size. I obviously would need some more powers heads in the display. The guy gave me 2 korilia 4's when i got the setup.
P.S. forgive the nasty sump pic I have not cleaned it yet. The picture of the 220g tank looked about the same till it was cleaned. Also I have not got a chance to clean the stand out.
