I purchased a GRI 2800 leak sensor that requires 5 VDC to activate. It is a NO switch. Am I correct to assume that I can wire this to the Apex breakout box with 5V applied or do I need a relay? The Unofficial User Guide indicates that it can handle 5V but no more.

If I need a relay, will this do?

It looks like the sensor you have is intended to be used on a loop that can supply a voltage (to run the sensor); that will not work connected directly to the Apex but I found a wiring diagram that shows how to inline a relay and that can be used with the Apex; just be sure to NOT connect the powered loop to the Apex; use the relay contact to connect to the Apex.

This is the diagram I found:

What do you think of the reed relay I linked to? I assume the 5V can open and close the relay and it is small enough that it can fit in my DIY breakout box.

I think it will work fine.
