Hey everyone im starting a thread for a friend until his internet is back up.He just picked up a black and white banded pipe fish and he was wondering what exactly are the specifics for keeping them.what they eat and what to watch out for mainly.Thanks and any info will do.

The short answer is:
No stinging corals or anemones.
Reef conditions mostly okay.
May need to feed live brine or baby brine shrimp to start.
Long term diet they should be offered frozen mysis and cyclopeeze 2-3 times a day. The sooner you get them on frozen food, the better.

Flagtail pipefish are generally pretty hardy in captivity, but they can arrive in bad shape due to rough handling in shipping and poor care at the fish store. Getting them eating frozen is probably the most important thing you can do.

Thanks for the reply and the helpful info.I will be sure to let him know.He is feeding live brine shrimp for now but will be sure to tell him to get it on frozen A.S.A.P. Thanks again.

The live brine shrimp are ok for feeding to the pipe as long as the pipe is eating them, and as long as the artemia are properly enriched with a product like Dan's Food from seahorsesource.com.
