Just picked up a PAR38 bulb from my buddy's warehouse.

12 x 1w BridgeLUX LEDs w/ optic lens
6 6500k white LED
6 453nM blue LED

The cool thing about this bulb is i can adjust my own color spectrum.

Comes with a remote to dim the entire unit.. or dim just the white.. or dim the blues.. Now i gotta play around and see what color settings i like or what my corals like... haha.

Is the remote control RF or IR? Do you have to point the remote at the light to make it change or can you have obstruction between the remote and the light?

Brand?
It's from a company called Lighting Techniks... i talked to the owner and he said their website is down right now since they are redesigning the entire site.

here are the pics.. i was too lazy to remove my canopy to shine the lights straight down into the tank.. so i mounted the light on a tripod at canopy height next to the tank and angled it in at about 30 degrees.

The little rock island island is about 3inches at its highest on top of about 1.5 inches of sand.. i have a 24 inch deep tank.

If only they were 2 or 3 watt LEDs.

par reading?
No idea what the PAR readings are exactly.. ill see if i can get a hold of a PAR meter.

If only they were 2 or 3 watt LEDs.
i actually did some research on that subject recently when i was debating on which LEDs to use for my 90gal.. using a 3w LED compared to a 1w LED actually doesnt give u 3x more light intensity. A 12x1w unit actually produces more light output than a 5x3w unit. Apparently a 3w LED actually only doubles the 1w LED light IF that. and the problem with using 3w LEDs is it gets super hot also.. so the bulb housing needs to be able to disperse the heat.
