I have had a watermelon calice frag for a couple months and was wondering when this thig is going to produce a new eye it is growing like a weed just no new eyes. When i got it it didnt even cover a frag plug. Purchesed it at 1/2 an inch now its 1 1/2 inches

You should get new eyes anytime. Are you spot feeding with anything?

i don't know about the watermelon chalice but i got a miami hurricane that did the same thing it had 4 eyes and kept growing but no mores eyes then when it about tripled its original size eyes started popping up in all the open space. it went from 4 eyes to 13 in about 2 weeks.

Not to hijack too much, but how/what do you spot feed chalices? Mine is growing pretty well, but I've never seen feeder tentacles either at night or when spot feeding other corals.

I put a few ounces of tank water in a cup and put a cube of fozen brine shrimp in it. Then i suck it up in a syringe (without needle) or a dropper and lightly shoot it into the eyes and it will stick.

Its better to feed them mysis or a variety of chopped meaty foods than brine.

Theres no rhyme or reason to them. Ive had an oregon mummy eye for a year that grew but had the same 1 eye for a year. Now it's finally getting another eye.
I got a tyree red wm a few months ago and within about a month it went from 1 eye to 4.
Some seem to grow and some get eyes it seems.
