I have a 36" ATI sunpower fixture over my illuminata. For some reason my chalices don't do well under these. They seem to get bleached. I have them in the lower level of my tank but it is still not doing so well. My tank parameters are okay but my alkanity stays low about 6.5 instead of 8. I am really stumped. All my other corals are doing great.
So I am trying to figure out if it's my light fixture. I know people even put them under MH but still I want to know if people have chalices under ATI fixture and how they are doing. Thanks in advance.

I have tried and they have fried. I made a section in the end covered with layers of screen material to decrease the light. The LPS have recovered from bleaching. After a few chalice losses, I gave up. I have ATI PM

I had a similar problem bleaching zoas and chalice with ati bulbs in a tek fixture. My solution was to decrease the light cycle and remove one of the blue+ bulbs.

I don't have the ATI fixture but a 6 bulb T5 unit and I have to put my chalices on the sand bed for them to survive. 2 inches up and they will start bleaching and lose their tissue. It's crazy.

It's crazy.

Not that crazy, chalices are lower light corals.

They live in blue light areas of the sea(25 feet deep or more) mine do fine under mh and LEDs

Chalice are low light for sure but I have heard that people put them higher for it to color up well. Most of my chalices have been moved to the sand bed again. I am working on my alk too. Let's see.

Yes with flow and lighting the colors will change.. But if upping there lighting you need to do it slowly... I only run my t5s for attinic only 2 420's 2 460's.. My metal halides are 175watt 14k's and I'm about 1/2 way up in my 90 and get great color and growth..
