Like stated, the pump is blocked or just went bad. Just give it a thorough cleaning, if it doesn't remedy the problem your in the market for a new pump....

Is it making any noise at all when u plug it in or 100% dead?

ive been hearing alot of this happening, happened to me on my lx2000, check the magnet impeller, that seems to be the issue that keeps poping up. they expand and get stuck, they should send you a new differently coated one or something.

I will try all these options as soon as I get home. I have only had this skimmer for 2 months. I bought it new from salty critter. If this keeps up its gone.....

I tried a Super Reef Octopus and had a ton of problems, decided to buy a whole new skimmer and ditch this one. I was experiencing to many problems. FYI, the screws on the SRO are cheaply made and will rust which isn't a good thing. The company knew full well these units are going into saltwater tanks yet they did away with titanium screws which is a big red flag right there. Like you experienced, I had restart issues all the time as well. You really don't get what you pay for with this skimmer IMO Good luck with the problem. hth

Did u check the magnet on the impellar when u had the pump off? A few months ago my sro5000 pump quit working. I took it apart and found the magnet had split open and expanded and would no longer turn in the housing smoothly. I contacted coralvue and they had a new one sent out under warranty right away.

I didnt get that far. I disconnected it from the skimmer body, plugged it in and it worked.

Even though it's running now, I would still pull it apart and give it a good cleanig. I clean all of my pumps once a month....

Hi,

If you take the motor impeller out make sure the shaft(maybe ceramic?) is clean and not loaded up with scale or what ever. All of my pumps get the impeller shaft loaded with a hard crusty material that will stop the impeller from turning on the shaft. I scrape mine with a xacto knife & get them nice a smooth. On most pumps the impeller blades must turn free on the shaft for it to work properly.

Nice. Hopefully this isn't a common occurrence..

I thought those pumps were supposed to be comparable to bubblekings! :hmm3:

Soak the pump impeller in vinager, this will desolve the calcium build up that Dave is Talking about. The pump might have a thermal shut off? not sure of brand. Hope it's not trashed.

Vinegar works amazing for calcium build up! 1:1 vinegar to water overnight works good. Straight vinegar if you have a messy job.
