Does the temp probe that is standard with the apex have the ability to control the heaters or is it simply a temp gauge?

If it can control the heaters is there an add on that I need? I will probably be running 3-4 heaters.

The Apex system does have the capability to control heaters - and chillers. You can program the Apex, for example, to turn on heater(s) at 78 degrees and turn them off when the tanks hits 79 degrees. You can do other things based on temperature too.. turn on fans, turn off lights, send an email if the temp is too high or too low, just to name a few.

The temp probe supplies data to the controller. You then program your heater or chiller's outlet based on that data. So yes, the temp probe will control your heater(s) and/or chiller(s).
