So I added a 3.5" melanurus to my 120 two days ago.
My six line 3" gave em a bit of the business. No more then the usual new fish greeting.
Haven't seen the melanurus in two days. He could not have jumped and I don't see the nasarius snail grim reapers emerging. I have a 4-5 dsb.
How many days before it's an ex fish...

I was going to say those sand bed loving wrasses can dissappear for days, my red coris was routinely absent for a few days every time he would get spooked. Congrats on the new fish

Thanks, we'll see if he eats when the lights come on.
I got it as a preventive measure, Halichoeres are good @ controlling pests. Hopefully, it doesn't wipe out hermits

I was researching this species and the hermit/snail predation thing was one of my concerns. Sure is a beautiful fish tho....

Hopefully I can feed it well it won't start decimating population.
I'll report back..
No shrimp in my tank anymore. My Hawk did away with him after getting tired of looking @ him for 6 months.
Hawk swam around for almost two days with 1/4 of cleaner shrimp sticking out of his mouth. Kids thought it was cool.
i had a yellow coris wrasse disappeared for 1 month i though it was dead and he came out one day i was amazed.:bounce3:
