View Full Version : Plumbing my Pump

Building my first tank. It is a 55 gallon, will be a reef tank, purchased a Eheim 1262 900 gph pump. Saw discussion of pipe size for plumbing and wanted to seek advice.

I had assumed I would do 1 inch pipe but saw someone suggest 3/4 inch although for a smaller pump. What would you do if you were me? Thanks in advance.

The pump output is 3/4" so you should be good to go if you do 3/4" throughout.

take a look at the head loss calculator on the home page. It doesn't have the 1262 listed but you can get an idea of the feet of head your system will have with 3/4" vs 1". you can then look at the flow chart for the pump and estimate your flow.

I have a 1262 and it was about 100 gph difference between 3/4 and 1.
