We have all been on both ends of this spectrum, but I wanted to share my Deltec story just 2 days into my new SC 2560. It is replacing a Euroreef RS 250 that for 2 years grew my reef, but as the fish got larger and ate more, it could not keep up and I watched my Nitrates rise and HA return....so the search for a skimmer began.

I looked and read just about all I could and based on my sump size got what I thought to be the best I could get. Realize at this point my Euroreef collected 2-3" of dark crud every 3 days and I had to pull and clean at that time and my reef is thriving with sps and LOTS of fish (30:eek:)

Enter this Deltec. I spoke to Marvin and he was very informative and helpful and basically said if it doesn't outskim the ER, I could sent it back:thumbsup:

33h after placing a brand new skimmer into a system with crystal clear water (at least to my eyes) and it this German masterpiece has pulled over 640z of brown/black awful smelling crud----that's about 4x what the RS250 did in 3 days!!!!

Deltec (and other companies) take a lot of hits for their pricing, but I'm here to say at least it's performing to its cost. That's about as fair as you can get.

Now I see why Deltec has such a loyal following:thumbsup:

What size reef are you using it on? That looks like one really expensive skimmer for its size.

Deltec makes good skimmers.

Which model do you have? Which pump?

A friend of mine has a Deltec and it has Aqua Bee 2000/1 pumps on it and that thing does an incredible job of skimming.

I've always been a fan of buying once, when you try to go cheaper you end up spending twice, in the long run you're actually saving money by buying correctly the first time.

SC2560 rated for 500gal heavily stocked. Pump is one smallish aquabee pulling in 1600L/h of air.

That is an amazing setup. Got a picture of the under/behind tank setup?

NOPE.....and it ain't pretty--looks like miles of cords with a 50 gal sump, Geo 618, 3 ballasts, 5 led transformers, 4 vortech controllers, phos reactor, and now a white water ceaner.

It's what's above that counts anyway!

Haha. I like to see what leads to the results, not just the results. :)

What kind of lighting are you running?
