I was on BRS & I saw they had the dual chamber media reactors & it made me wonder- is anyone using a dual chamber reactor & running a sediment filter in the 1st chamber?

I've seen sediment filters as big as 30 microns & I figure if you used one of those as a prefilter it would keep stuff from getting mixed in with GFO or carbon & it would be cheap & easy to replace.

The reason I ask is because I picked up 10 sheets of felt from Michaels the other day (.29/each) to make into filter socks & to run in a power filter as part of getting rid of dinos from my tank & within 20 minutes of putting the felt in the filter & putting on a filter sock & then scraping the glass they were both loaded with stuff. It makes me wonder how much stuff is getting sucked through my return pump & pumped into my media reactor, where it sits & breaks down until I replace the media.
