ok so this is the model sump that i have....http://www.epinions.com/reviews/All_Glass_Megaflow_Sump_Filters_Model_3_25_1_2X_13_3_4X17_Aquariums_Up_To_110_Gallon

I don't think i have enough room in the back of the tank..so i may have to put it in the sump...but where in the sump do I put it in? Do i just connect it in the bigger part of the sump where i have the live rock in? Sorry im new at this

is there anything extra i need to do?? Or just plug and play as if i was putting it in the back...and do I have to look for one thats compatable with sumps? Amy recommendations?

last question..does the skimmer part sit outside of the sump or inside?

I think it depends on the skimmer you get. I have the ASM G3 and it sits in the sump. I like it in the sump, so if anything goes wrong and it overflows, leaks, etc. it just falls into the sump and not the floor!

ya i was looking at the asm g1.......so u just sit it in sump and plug in and thats it?

Pretty much, there is an adjustment pipe on the ASM (similar mechanism on all skimmers) that controls the water height inside the skimmer which controls how much "foam" gets up the top of the collector. You will need to dial this in to get the right amount of foam but it is easy. If you have too much, the collection cup will fill with water but since it is in the sump no worries, or you won't get any "skimmet". Either way in a day or two you can have it dialed in making nice thick foam. Once it is setup you shouldn't have to mess with it too much other than to clean the collection cup.

Are you running the wet/dry filter in that sump? There is a lot of discussion that the wet/dry setup can lead to a lot of Nitrate production. I am running the Berlin system, lots of live rock, and a protein skimmer, with no explicit wet/dry filter.

u mean the bio balls? if thats what u mean then no we dont use that... We just got our own filter pad and some kind of floss stuff...and we put some live rock in the sump as well
