i bought a porkfish about 5" long and lfs said give me 10$ for it so i couldnt pass up the deal so i bought it
when i put it in my tank with my 6 1/2" maroon clown it kept swimming in the clowns territory and kept coming back for more of the clown pushing him away. 5 minutes when i put him in the tank he starts eating the sand and spiting it back up and im thinking to myself hes not a goby why is he doin this,... my lfs was feeing it brine shrimp not sand
who knows what is up with my fish

I had one years ago, and seem to remember mine doing the same thing, think it's just looking for food. hope you have a large tank as they do get pretty big .

Do you mean a porcupine puffer? He's looking for food in the sand. You'll need to feed him shelled fish, clams, snails, crabs etc.. to keep his beak trimmed down. I wouldn't put one in less than a 125gal. They get very large and are messy eaters.

You're talking porkfish, not puffer, correct? I had one years ago. I don't recall this behavior with mine, but he is probably just looking for food. If I recall correctly mine ate everything. They are really pretty fish.

They get fairly large. He's a grunt so he'll be in the sand looking for crabs or shrimp.

i am talking about a porkfish not a porcupine puffer.... it actually is bringing my clownfish out and he is swiming around instead of hiding in the corner...
i can try to upload a photo in the next couple of days but it may not be a good quality picture because the fish is swiming around and never rests
