I'm a beginner at keeping a reef though I've had a FOWLR for about 2 years now and that is going fine.

I want to start up a nano reef with some lower to med light easy to keep corals. I have an extra 29 gallon 30" long and have most equipment but I need a light. Any ideas.

What do you think of this light?

It seems light a pretty good light to me but I'm not really sure.

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

That's exactly the light I have over my 29, and it has been working great for lower to medium-light corals. Look around the boards for used equip, you might be able to pick up something secondhand.

Cool, What are you specifically keeping in your 29?

I have a 29 gallon just as yourself and I have a 2 bulb PC fixture. It works fine for zoas, mushrooms, xenia, and other softies... I just don't know about anything else. I'm upgrading soon and will be going T5 so hopefully I'll have better luck than my current tank. anyway, good luck!

I also have a 29 and I used to have a 2x24w t5ho light fixture and I upgraded to a 36" 4x39w t5ho from fishneedit.com but i am in the proces of upgrading the bulbs to 1 ATI aquablue, 1 ATI purple Plus and 2 ATI blue Plus

I have a 24 gallon nano tank and I use 2 x 36 watt compact fluorescents.

I have no problem keeping most coral and clams thriving and doing well. I keep a variety of softies and it is a good lighting set up.

I don't keep SPS in there though as I have learned from experience those don't do nearly as well under PC as they do under my halides.

But, overall, for what you want to keep, that Current USA system will be plenty of light and at $179 it is a good buy.

thanks alot,
I think theres a good chance I will go with this light.. It seems good for what i'm wanting to use it for.... which is mainly softies...

Would it be good enough to support some lower light anemones?

I currently have many zoas, some frogspawn, GSP, rics, trumpet/candy coral, and several types of Montipora. I'm trying a bridsnest too, but it looks like it would benefit from more light.
