I just wanted to get some advice on an overflow I am thinking of doing. I have a 40 Gallon breeder and want to do a coast to coast with the beananimal setup for the supply lines. My question is would it be overkill to put three drains in for such a small tank? I am thinking of eliminating the emergency drain and going with two.

My second question is what size pump would be appropriate to create a full siphon on a 1" pipe with about 4 ft of head to the tank.

I think it might be slight overkill on a 40breeder, but there's no saying that it can't work well. I'd think an eheim pump would be a good idea. If you want to do the bean, just do it!

any other suggestions or experiences from people that have done it on a 40. Pics would also be great

two almost seems like too much @ 1inch. I have a 1inch overflow on mine and it works quite well. I have a 29 gallon. I would recommend drilling the tank and putting the box in if you can, so much easier to deal with, don't need to worry about losing your siphon. Just need to make sure it is not tempered glass.
